HDD acting fucky

Post by Dinomite » February 15th, 2017, 10:17 am

Ever since i ran Project Cars on my PC (I received this shitty game from an even shittier person), my computers been acting up.
Whenever i boot it, it now takes ages to start and goes through weird procedures which it auto skips but still displays for a few seconds.
It's really annoying and the PC works fine after that but do you perhaps know what the hells goin on? I know alot about computers but this shit ive never seen.

Thanks in advance :-bd

Sounds like you have malware that's running when you boot. Try ADWCleaner see if it detects anything. And try this too:
Hidden Content
This board requires you to be registered and logged-in to view hidden content.

There's a key that makes it full version then try the Program Deactivator and deactivate anything you don't recognize.

Let me know if it works or if you already did these ideas.

No. I do not have ANY malware. This is at the STARTUP. Not after windows is loaded and im logged in, im saying at my BIOS screen. Literally as soon as you press the start button. After that its 100% fine.

Take off the side panel while it is off and double check the SATA cable to the drive. They are notorious for coming loose even if they have clips. What's the S.M.A.R.T. look like on it? After that I don't know. You should have said at POST I would have understood that easier. My last guess would be something has changed in your BIOS that is causing it to hang on drive detection.

I'm not so sure it did as I have installed that game before and uninstalled it like twice. (The game sucks and sucked both times I tried it.) It may be just a coincidence that that game was what you were doing at the time something else happened. Check your S.M.A.R.T. values see what they say. You could have just ran out of spare tracks on your HDD or something.

I ran a hard drive that showed yellow for about 2 years, this new one shows blue but I gave the yellow status one away and its still running good.

Oh my POST sometimes hangs if I leave a disk in the Blu-Ray drive. It did it this morning to me why I thought of it. My DVD burner did the same shit and it was a completely different brand. It died altogether one day hence the Blu-Ray burner (which I don't know why I even got as I cannot find Blu-Ray blanks anywhere). I usually don't leave a disk in there but was up late trying to rip the new Keanu Reeves movie rental. (It's got some hard ass copygaurd!) Not sure if related but thought I would mention it.
